Kobe Bryant fans were excited about the release of Nike’s Kobe 5 Protro “Big Stage” sneakers on Sunday. However, those who were depending on Nike’s SNKRS app to purchase the product were left disappointed.

Almost immediately after the 2 p.m. EDT release of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Big Stage,” upset fans took to Twitter to voice their disappointment after learning the sneakers were sold out within minutes of the release.

“So annoyed the Kobe’s sold out in less than 5min on the SNKRS app because of all the resellers. Most of my shoe collection consist of Kobe’s. I actually wanted them to wear,” one person wrote with an eye roll emoji.

Another fan added, “SNKRS app is broken. I’ve got notifications set for a day before and 15 minutes before and never got a single notification. Guess Nike would prefer ppl to profit off Kobe’s death again.”

Meanwhile, one sneakerhead blamed bots for causing the sneakers to sell out. “@Nike so here we are again @nikestore #SNKRS idk why I even try anymore. Every time I try to buy from SNKRS app, I get handed this L by your company & those bots you allow to take from us average joes This is very depressing, I’m a try again tomorrow, but I know it’s a L _#RIPKobe,” the customer tweeted.

Those who missed their chance to purchase the Nike Kobe 5 Protro "Big Stage" sneakers will still have the opportunity to make other purchases during Mamba Week.

On Monday, the Nike Kobe 5 Protro ‘5X Champ’ will go on sale at 10 a.m. EDT time and will be available at select retailers and on the SNKRS app.

Mamba Week is expected to last until Saturday, Aug. 29, and feature the release of unique Kobe Bryant-themed gear each day.
