While Nina Dobrev’s possible return to The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and onscreen reunion with real-life ex Ian Somerhalder are still up in the air, the actress is having a blast with her friends this season for now. The latest gathering she attended was her last for 2016 and her first for 2017, and the “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” star spent it with “Scream Queens” actor Glen Powell and many other friends.

On New Year's Eve, Dobrev happily took to Instagram to greet her millions of followers “Happy New Year from a Happy Crowd." She emphasized in the post how all of them in the photo are ready for 2017.

Prior their New Year’s Eve party, Dobrev and her group of friends watched “UFC 207” together while wearing onsies. The film and TV actress did not share this bit with her fans, but Powell did. In the actor’s post, he showed off how their huge group of friends flocked in front of the television for the sports event. Powell and Dobrev are noticeably sitting comfortably together as they flash smiles toward the camera.

On the first day of 2017, Powell, Dobrev and a couple of their friends jumped into the lake to mimic what Ian’s ex calls as the “polar bear plunge 2016.” Dobrev shared a clip of the playful jump on her Instagram account. A little later, Dobrev reposted a snap Glen’s sister Leslie shared on her Instagram account. The actress noted in the caption how 2016 is already behind them.

The 27-year-old “Final Girls” star also shared a collage of polaroid photos showing off how the New Year got her, Powell and some of her friends rowdy “Texas Style.” In one of the photos, Dobrev and Powell are seen rocking wacky facial expressions.

Meanwhile, Dobrev has yet to address rumors that she’s making a comeback on “TVD.” Many of her fans have been flooding her social media with comments asking for her return, but she remains mum on the issue. In December, Dobrev proudly shared the new poster for her movie with Vin Diesel, but her fans thought the caption for her post was meant to throw shade at the cast of “Vampire Diaries” Season 8.

The only thing that’s fueling fans to believe that Dobrev is returning to the series is producer Julie Plec’s statement to TV Line in May 2016. She said, "Obviously things can change throughout time ... But in my opinion, she was very clear about what she wanted the next step in her life to be, and she's doing a great job of achieving that. So I'm sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end."
