Barnes and Noble could be unveiling the new version of the Nook Color on Nov. 7 in New York. The company has sent out an invitaton inviting writers and tech analysts to the announcement, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The new version of the e-reader is expected to battle with the new Kindle Fire and the iPad 2 for tablet supremacy as the holiday shopping season kicks into gear towards the end of November.

Simba Information Senior Trade Analyst Michael Norris told the Journal that the announcement is very likely a new tablet, but it is also possible it will instead be to announce new features coming to the existing Nook Color such as video streaming. It's also possible Barnes and Noble is cutting the price of the $249 Nook to be more competitive with the $199 Fire, he said.
