The OnePlus Two smartphone, tied to the internal code name “lettuce,” has apparently visited the Geekbench benchmark testing site, revealing key configurations. Notably, the OnePlus Two release date is set for the third quarter of 2015, news that OnePlus has reportedly confirmed.

According to Geekbench, the OnePlus Two is listed under the predecessor OnePlus One’s name; however, the model number is different. The predecessor comes with the model name A0001, whereas the new OnePlus One successor carries the following name, A2001.

The OnePlus Two specifications indicate the handset will be powered by a MSM8994 chipset, and this denotes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC. Plus, the housed octa-core processor is reportedly clocked at 1.55 GHz. It is worth reminding that the Snapdragon 810 has long been rumored as the processor to power the successor. Meanwhile, the OnePlus One comes powered by Snapdragon 801 MSM8974 processor, notes GSM Arena.

Speaking of RAM configuration, the OnePlus Two will be backed by a good 3 GB of RAM, similar to the predecessor. But then, earlier rumors pointed to a killer 4 GB of RAM. On the software end, the prototype handset runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Mindful of the feud between Cyanogen team and OnePlus, GSM Arena says the final product will not run on Cyanogen OS, which is part of the predecessor OnePlus One. As a result, the new Oxygen OS based on Android will reportedly take over.

Other rumored OnePlus Two specifications include a fingerprint scanner and the much-required microSD card slot for memory expansion. As for price, the OnePlus Two will set the buyers back by approximately $400. To top it off, OnePlus will also release a budget-friendly smartphone toward the end of this year.

NDTV says OnePlus recently moved out of the infamous invite-only purchase model for its flagship OnePlus One. Carl Pei, head of global and co-founder of OnePlus, has reportedly commented on the pain points of this purchase model, saying that the “invite system to non-invite system” transition will be of immense learning experience ahead of the successor OnePlus Two release. But then, the upcoming OnePlus Two can be purchased only with invites. In any case, readers should note that the company has not confirmed the OnePlus Two specifications and features thus far.
