The Originals
Claire Holt has joined the cast of a new ABC pilot named “Doomsday.” What will happen to her character Rebekah in “The Originals” Season 4? The CW

When “The Originals” returns to The CW on March 17, they may be one Mikaelson member down. Claire Holt, the actress who plays Rebekah, is going to become increasingly unavailable to shoot episodes of the series.

Holt has joined the cast of a new apocalyptic drama pilot by ABC named “Doomsday,” according to TVLine. The hour-long thriller tells the story of a secret think-tank whose sole mission is to come up with possible disaster scenarios. However, things take a turn for the worse when one of their scenarios comes true. Holt is playing a character named Kayla.

The 28-year-old Australian actress joins a star-studded cast that includes “Private Practice” alum Taye Diggs, “Under The Dome” star Rachelle Lefevre,” “Smash” actor Jack Davenport and “Cougar Town’s” Dan Byrd.

Holt’s recent acting gig means she will be less available to guest-star in “The Originals” Season 4. Her character Rebekah first appeared in parent series “The Vampire Diaries” before moving to the spin-off. Holt was initially a series regular on “The Originals,” but with multiple projects coming her way, she opted to become a guest-star on The CW show.

In Season 3, Holt only appeared in three episodes – “Beautiful Mistake” (episode 6) “Savior” (episode 9) and “The Bloody Crown” (episode 22). In Season 4, Holt is set to guest star in episodes 1 and 10, according to IMDb.

Towards the end of last season, Holt’s character was cursed to be a ripper. She was daggered most of the time but returned in the finale to demand Marcel that her brother Klaus (Joseph Morgan) gets a trial for his long list of mistakes.

Rebekah has been a fan-favorite character ever since she first appeared in “TVD.” It will be sad to see less and less of her playing the role of Klaus’ sister.

“The Originals” Season 4 premieres Friday, March 17 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
