And then there was one. “The Originals” will be airing its final episode of Season 2 on Monday night and from the looks of the synopsis for “Ashes to Ashes,” episode 22 is going to be dripping with drama -- and blood.

“With time running out, Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) ultimate plan to protect baby Hope at all costs continues to take shape,” the summary for the finale reveals. According to a sneak-peek clip from the upcoming installment, Klaus’ plan to save his daughter’s life will involve getting suspiciously close to his evil Aunt Dahlia (Claudia Black).

“When Klaus got into my head he said your plan would fail. So he had to enact one of his own. He has to get her to link to him,” Cami (Leah Pipes) reveals to Elijah (Daniel Gillies) in a promo video. The clip details why Klaus had gone rogue, killing Gia (Nishi Munshi) and ruining Rebekah’s (Claire Holt) chance at ever living a mortal life. (It was so Dahlia would trust Klaus enough to link to him.)

This vital piece of information shared by Cami will cause Elijah and Rebekah to “reconsider their plan of attack against Dahlia.” Seems like it’s safe to say that the Mikaelson’s will put their feud behind them to team up in the Season 2 finale of “The Originals” against their aunt.

The two Mikaelson siblings won’t be the only ones doing a bit of re-thinking in episode 22. Davina (Danielle Campbell) will question whether or not she should bring Kol (Daniel Sharman) back from the dead like she promised with the one free pass she has to access her ancestor’s power.

Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) warns the regent that Kol may be more dangerous than he had let on.

“Kol’s not like his brothers. They turn on each other,” she argues.

But Vincent reveals that although they may fight, they’re still family. “Families fight but when push comes to shove you can always trust a Mikaelson to back another Mikaelson,” he says, causing Davina to question her resurgence spell.

“The Originals” showrunner Julie Plec bolstered Vincent’s sentiment when she divulged to Entertainment Weekly that the bond between the Mikaelson siblings is stronger than any spell Davina could conjure up. “Unfortunately, the always-and-forever bond that this family made to each other was meant to be just that, through thick and thin, through sleet, hail, rain or snow,” she revealed.

Does that mean Davina will forgo her plan to resurrect her beau? While we’re unsure who will be brought back from the dead we know for a fact someone will be resurrected. “It provides some really interesting closure, more than anything else,” Plec teased. (Could Esther [Sonja Sohn] be returning to the series for the finale?)

The summary for “Ashes to Ashes” also reveals that Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) will put aside his “fury for Klaus” to figure out a way to protect himself and their sire line. We all know that if Klaus endures a white oak stake to the heart, his sire line will go down with him. While Marcel cooks up a plan to protect himself, Freya (Riley Voelkel) will also try to whip up a spell to keep herself safe from Dahlia.

The EP explained that the only way the Mikaelson siblings can defeat their powerful aunt is if they team up together, “which is difficult for them” considering all that has happened.

“And of course, what remains of their family after everything that Klaus has done is something that’s going to hang really heavily at the end, and we’ll see who’s able to find any kind of peace with each other and who’s left estranged," she dished. "It’s a very emotionally powerful finale, which is what I like about it."
