During Thursday’s game between the Utah Jazz and Indiana Pacers, 4 players were ejected after an altercation between centers Rudy Gobert and Myles Turner.

With 4 minutes left in the game, Gobert rolled to the basket after receiving a pass from Jazz point guard Mike Conley. As Gobert attempted to score, Turner was able to block the shot which caused Gobert to fall to the ground, pulling on Turner’s shorts in the process. Both appeared to lose their tempers and engaged in a physical altercation, while players from both teams ran to the scene of the incident.

The officials then reviewed the play and assessed Gobert and Turner technical fouls. Both players got ejected from the game.

Jazz players Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles were also ejected and given technical fouls for their involvement in the events following the altercation. After taking a closer look at the video, Ingles appears to have pushed official Ed Malloy as he rushes into the situation. Mitchell approached the Pacers bench and also made contact with an official.

Jazz head coach Quin Snyder was confused as to why Mitchell was ejected from the game.

“I was trying to understand what Donovan did [to get ejected]," he said. "I didn’t see anything other than he didn’t calm down quick enough.”

Malloy stated that he was ejected for “acting as an instigator and escalating the situation.”

The Jazz were defeated 111-100.

Whether both centers will be available for their next game is yet to be determined. However, it remains entirely possible that either one of them could get suspended.
