A former Delaware pediatrician who was convicted of sexually abusing patients has been sentenced to life in prison.

Earl Bradley, 58, was given 14 life sentences plus 164 years in prison at level 5 security with no chance of parole, the Milford Beacon reported.

He was convicted two months ago on 14 counts of first-degree rape, multiple counts of assault and continuous sexual exploitation of a child, the Associated Press reported.

Prosecutors said that almost all of Bradley's victims were patients, the Web site DelawareOnline.com reported.

A state police detective testified that videotapes Bradley made show him using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on little girls who nearly choked or suffocated to death after he forced them to perform oral sex on him, as well as engaging in other perverse and violent sexual acts with children, the Web site reported.

We often have a natural tendency to blame ourselves when these acts occur, but you must realize you are not at all at fault, Sussex County Superior Court Judge William C. Carpenter told parents in the courtroom, the Milford Beacon reported. You and your children have done nothing wrong.

Bradley's public defenders plan to appeal the conviction, arguing that the videos of Bradley were improperly seized, The AP reported.
