The New Orleans Pelicans appear to be interested only in Lakers forward Brandon Ingram and are likely to trade Anthony Davis to New York Knicks rather than the Los Angeles Lakers.

Indeed, the Lakers are still within the circle of Davis trade talks, but sources claimed that the Pelicans are only interested in the Lakers’ young core, specifically Ingram. With that being said, the Pelicans may reject any offer from the Lakers that would not involve Ingram.

According to The Bleacher Report, the Lakers could still trade for Davis at this point, but the team should be willing to trade their rising stars in order to entice the Pelicans.

When ESPN’s Dave McMenamin appeared on the "The Sedano Show," he opened up about what people within the Pelicans organization think about Ingram and the Lakers' interest in Davis.

"I spoke to several people within the Pelicans' organization in the past several months that have a really high opinion of Brandon Ingram, and beyond just Brandon Ingram, have a really high opinion of the trade package that was on the table that was ultimately rejected," McMenamin stated.

It was previously reported that Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin recently had a meeting with Davis in LA to talk about the superstar’s decisions. More importantly, he reportedly also hoped to convince him to stay with the Pelicans.

Unfortunately, reports claimed that Griffin was not able to change Davis’ decisions. This made the Pelicans turn their heads to other teams’ offers again.

With the Pelicans only interested in Ingram, the chances of other teams landing the 26-year-old All-Star increases. Sources claimed that the Pelicans may opt to trade Davis to the Knicks given the situation with the Lakers.

SNY sources also said that some influential people in the New Orleans organization continue to be more open in making a deal for Davis with other teams than Lakers.

The Knicks got involved in this recent Davis talks due to the angle that the Knicks apparently offered some trade pitches to Kyrie Irving. Sources claimed that the offer appears to be more enticing to New Orleans, Lakers Nation noted.

Some teams are reportedly kind of utilizing the known friendship of Irving, Davis and Durant in order to persuade some, if not all, of them to sign on with their team.

The Lakers had once made an offer which involved Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball for Davis in the past, and it is not impossible for them to repeat the same type of deal with the way things are going this offseason.
