The U.S. Department of Defense has officially identified the 30 service members, 22 of them part of the Navy SEALs commando unit, Team Six, who died Saturday in Afghanistan when their CH-47 Chinook helicopter was shot down by the Taliban.

It was the biggest single loss of life for American and NATO forces since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan.

The sailors assigned to an East Coast Naval Special Warfare unit killed were:

Sgt. Patrick D. Hamburger, 30, of Lincoln, Neb. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment (General Support Aviation Battalion), Grand Island, Neb.

Sgt. Alexander J. Bennett, 24, of Tacoma, Wash. He was assigned to the 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment (General Support Aviation Battalion), New Century, Kan.
