Atlus has released a new trailer for “Persona 5 Royal” ahead of its western release to show what the game features and what fans can expect from the latest in the franchise.

The new teaser video reintroduces the Phantom Thieves of “Persona 5” led by the game's main protagonist Joker. It also gives players and interested parties a better look at the new addition to the Phantom Thieves, the transfer student named Kasumi.

Per the PlayStation Blog, Kasumi is a transfer student who enrolls at Shujin Academy, where the other Phantom Thieves are. She enrolled at the school at the same time as Joker, and has a Metaverse costume that was “intentionally designed to mirror Joker's style” – complete with an all black outfit and red gloves.

Kasumi is an award-winning gymnast since middle school, and her graceful moves can be seen in the trailer Atlus released. She will play a major role in “Persona 5 Royal.” She has a rebellious nature as revealed in her Persona, Cendrillion, who is based on the nature of Cinderella.

“Persona 5 Royal will feature an extra palace that's related to the red-haired addition to the Phantom Thieves' backstory, GameSpot reported. The palace, which is shown in the trailer, looks based on an opera house. This design appears to reflect Kasumi's background as a gymnast and ballet dancer.

All-new partner attacks

The trailer also shows all-new partner attacks that allows certain characters to inflict heavy damage on their enemies together. The partner attacks are definitely more powerful than normal attacks, and are more fun to watch.

Yusuke and Ryuji, for example, throw a grenade at their enemy for disturbing them while they enjoy ramen. Haru and Morgana, on the other hand, team up to shoot explosive rounds and ram the enemy hard. Makoto and Haru also team up to strike a heavy blow to an enemy at the same time.

Other characters like Futaba and Akechi are shown in the trailer as well. The teaser didn't show if they have partner attacks, but their individual attacks are very entertaining to watch on their own.

“Persona 5 Royal” is set to arrive on western shores on March 31. Players can preorder a “Phantom Thieves Edition,” which includes a few collectibles such as Joker's mask, an art book and a collector's box; and a standard edition that comes with a limited edition steelbook case.
