Atlus has released a new trailer revealing tons of content featured in “Persona 5 The Royal.” The title, which will be released in Japan later this year and in the U.S. next year, expands the base game “Persona 5” by adding a new phantom thief and more.

The trailer, which was shown after the first night of the "Persona Super Live 2019" concert, featured a new party member named Kasumi Yoshizawa, a new confidant named Takuto Maruki, a new place called Kichijoji, and a lot more. It also featured new music that fans will surely love.

New characters

Yoshisawa is a transfer student at Shujin Academy. Aside from being an athletic gymnast with graceful dance moves, this red-haired girl is a phantom thief who wields a rifle and a rapier-style sword. She is expected to play a major role in “Persona 5 The Royal.” GameSpot noted how she seems closely connected to Joker and Akechi.

Maruki, on the other hand, is a school counselor at Shujin Academy. Little is known about him at the moment, except that his is a confidant who appears after the Kamoshida fiasco.

New locations

Aside from meeting these new characters in “Persona 5 The Royal,” players will also get to explore a new location called Kichijoji. The video showed how players can roam around its shopping district and visit its huge aquarium.

Aside from roaming around Kichijoji, players can hang out and play darts or pool in a new game bar called the Penguin Sniper. The trailer also showed what appears to be a new palace where fights will ensue.

New attack animations

The trailer also showed additional attack animations focusing on different characters. Two of these animations showed two characters working together in some sort of partner attack reminiscent of the ones featured in “Persona 4 Golden.”

The first one showed Haru firing her grenade launcher while riding atop a speeding van, who happens to be Morgana in a different form. The second animation showed Ryuji slamming his weapon on an enemy, followed by a rain of lightning-fast punches from Makoto.

Release dates

Atlus announced that “Persona 5 The Royal” will be launched in Japan on Oct. 31 this year, and will be launched in the U.S. sometime next year. It will remain exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
