A dog owner was left horrified after finding his pet’s body in the hot tub of his home in Edinburg, Scotland, on Sunday.

The dog’s owner returned home Sunday evening and couldn’t find the canine anywhere. Upon searching for the missing dog, the owner made the grim discovery in the hot tub. The owner believes someone broke into the property and beat the dog to death before hiding the body.

“Some scum has broken into a garden, killed an 11-month-old puppy, and dumped the body in the owner's hot tub. If anyone knows anything about this, please report it. It's a barbaric and despicable thing to do. Raging!” read an appeal issued on community Facebook group Cockenzie and Port Seton People.

"My poor neighbor has just knocked my door... have I seen anything suspicious today. They lost 11-month-old puppy- just found him in the hot tub in the garden, the lid was on. He had been beaten and dumped in the tub. They have 6-foot fence and gate locked from the backside. Horrible people about,” one person commented.

A police complaint was filed and investigation was ongoing. Police said the body was sent for autopsy and they were waiting for the results.
