KEY POINTS

  • PFL closes out the 2022 regular season with another exciting card
  • Playoff spots are at stake in the women’s lightweight and welterweight divisions
  • Kayla Harrison meets Kaitlin Young in the main event

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) puts a bow on its 2022 regular season this Friday, July 1st, at the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

On deck for the league’s final card before the postseason feature bouts in the women’s lightweight and welterweight divisions.

Headlining Friday night’s fights will be two-time PFL women’s lightweight champion Kayla Harrison going head-to-head against Kaitlin Young.

Quite possibly the biggest star in PFL, Harrison has maintained an unparalleled level of dominance in the league, which has led her to an undefeated run and two reigns as the 155-pound division's undisputed queen.

This season, Harrison is once again on course to return to the postseason for a third consecutive year.

Harrison also has her sights set on a historic third-straight title reign, which could further cement her legacy not just in the promotion but also in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA).

Looking to shock the world will be Young, who comes in with a clear experience advantage over Harrison.

Young has shared the cage with some of the best names in women’s MMA and will do so once again when she steps into the cage on Friday.

A last-minute replacement, Young will try to make the postseason in her 2022 season debut.

In the co-main event, former Bellator champion and UFC veteran Rory MacDonald meets Sadibou Sy in an important welterweight contest.

Despite coming up short in his campaign last year, MacDonald was once again pegged as one of the favorites to win the PFL welterweight championship this season.

At PFL 3 back in May, MacDonald proved precisely why he is one of the frontrunners this year by accomplishing a first-round submission of Brett Cooper to propel him to the top of the welterweight standings.

With a win at PFL 6, MacDonald locks up his spot in the postseason for a second-straight year.

Sy, meanwhile, will have a tough hill to climb if he wants to book his return ticket to the semifinals.

The Swede began this season with a split decision victory over Nikolay Aleksakhin and will try to score a massive upset to move on to the next round.

Also slated to compete on the card, 2021 PFL welterweight champion Ray Cooper III faces Brett Cooper.

On the other hand, 2021 welterweight finalist Magomed Magomedkerimov meets Joao Zeferino in a three-round clash.

PFL 6 is available live in the United States on ESPN and ESPN+.
