Rumors are rife that Huawei is planning to launch a new Y series smartphone, which will be called Huawei Y9s. While the Beijing-based company has not yet officially confirmed the existence of the new smartphone, a new promotional teaser of the rumored device has been shared online.

Gadget 360 reported the promo teaser has revealed a handful of fresh details about the rumored handset. The teaser contains messages that suggest the new device could be a variant of the recently-launched Honor 9X Pro smartphone.

The publication shared the teaser promo was shared on Twitter by a renowned tipster who goes by the name Zyad Atef. The tipster also provided render that suggests some of the key specifications and features of the upcoming handset.

However, this week came a shocking surprise, the full listing of the new handset has just appeared on Huawei's official website, according to an earlier report by Gizmo China.

Gizmo China reported the new Huawei smartphone will be released as the successor to the Huawei Y9 that was released just last year. The new Huawei Y9s will feature with a 6.59-inch Ultra FullView Display and an AI-powered camera features. The upcoming phone will bring a pop-up selfie shooter, a speaker grille, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and a side-mounted finger scanner. The phone could also offer a full-screen mobile experience.

The new Huawei Y9s will bring a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 48-megapixel primary f/1.8 sensor, an 8-megapixel f/2.4 ultrawide angle camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Huawei will retain the 16-megapixel selfie camera that was also introduced in the previous models. However, the company will replace the two-tome design with a color-changing Breathing Crystal and single finish Midnight Black.

The Huawei Y9s will be powered by Huawei Kirin 710F mobile processor along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 512GB via MicroSD card slot. The phone will get its power from a 4000 mAh battery cell with support for W fast charging. The new Huawei Y9s will arrive with the latest Android 9-based EMUI 9.1 out of the box.
