Fresh photos of a smaller version of the purported Samsung Galaxy S6, the Mini, have surfaced. Rumors claim that the handset is slated for release in August.

Phone Arena published the photos of the Galaxy S6 Mini handset. Like the S6, the smaller variant also sports metal and glass construction. The design of the handset also appears to be very similar to that of the larger model.

The position of the connectivity ports such as the microUSB slot, the headphone slot and the loudspeaker are the same as its larger sibling's, GSM Arena said. The right side of the handset bears the SIM slot. As of this writing, it can’t be confirmed whether it lacks microSD card slot and removable battery.

As far as the rumored specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini are concerned, the device is expected to come with 4.6- or 4.7-inch display. It is expected to support HD resolution of 1,280-by-720 pixels. The rear camera of the device will be 15 megapixels.

The handset is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 808 chipset and 2GB of RAM. Phone Arena speculated since the photos indicate the purported Galaxy S6 Mini has been completed, it would be unveiled Aug. 13 alongside the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The company is also expected to unveil a new Gear A smartwatch in the coming month.

Last year, it was rumored several variants of the Galaxy S6 handsets would be available this year. Samsung has already unveiled several variants for the handset such as the Galaxy S6 Edge that sports dual-edge curved display and the Galaxy S6 Active that comes with rugged body that is resistant dust, water and extreme temperature.

Sam Mobile said before releasing the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, the company did not spoke much about it and finally made it available in the U.S. through AT&T. The same may happen with the smaller version of the Galaxy S6. As of this writing, there is no official confirmation from Samsung on the existence of the device.
