Manchester United reportedly have a clear path to sign Mauricio Pochettino as Ralf Rangnick's successor in the summer.

Pochettino, who is contracted with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) until 2023, is set to leave the club in the 2022 summer, Transfer News Live reported.

The 49-year-old Argentine has been in charge of PSG since January 2021. PSG are currently 11 points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table and are likely to reclaim the title.

Having replaced Thomas Tuchel in the Parc des Princes dugout, Pochettino failed to win the Ligue 1 title. PSG had finished behind surprise champions Lille in the 2020-21 campaign.

It was earlier believed that Pochettino would continue as PSG's head coach if he wins Europe's top club competitions. They will face Real Madrid in the last-16 of the Champions League.

PSG crashed out of the Coupe de France on Monday, with a 6-5 penalty shootout loss to Nice. That has been the last strike as PSG management has informed their decision to Pochettino and has already begun to look for his replacement, reported Le Parisien.

Even though Pochettino has been at PSG for over a year, he has been constantly linked with other clubs. Pochettino, who was previously sacked by Tottenham, was linked with a return to North London when Spurs fired Jose Mourinho. However, Daniel Levy opted for Nuno Espirito Santo but the Portuguese's exit just after six months saw Pochettino in the limelight once again for a return. Spurs eventually signed Antonio Conte as their next head coach.

However, it looks like Pochettino is not done with Premier League as yet.

Manchester United have been in regular contact with Pochettino. As Rangnick's tenure as the Red Devils' boss is set to end in the summer, a post will be vacant at the end of the 2021-22 season and it will be interesting to see if the Argentinean gets it or not.

With 38 points in 22 matches, Manchester United are placed fourth in the 2021-22 Premier League table. The Red Devils are very much alive in the Champions League. They will take on Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16.
