Manchester United has suffered another blow as midfielder Paul Pogba has been ruled out of their Sunday's Premier League fixture against table leaders Liverpool FC.

Pogba, who was suffering from a foot injury, made only two appearances for the Red Devils since the end of August.

The 26-year-old midfielder last played for Man Utd in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at home on Sept. 30. The foot injury ensured he missed their next game against Newcastle United, which the Red Devils, unfortunately, lost 1-0 before the international break and has failed to recover in time.

Pogba's news has come as a second major blow for Man Utd after their goalkeeper David de Gea's hamstring injury, which he sustained Tuesday while he was on international duty at the Euro 2020 qualifier match in Sweden.

If De Gea, who was forced off the field in the second half, is not declared fit ahead of the Old Trafford match on Sunday, he could well be replaced by Sergio Romero. The Argentine has played a few games this season for Man Utd in competitions such as Europa League and League Cup.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Man Utd Boss Ole Gunner Solskjær said, "David needs a scan. I think he’ll be out. It certainly looked like it anyway judging on last night so it’s one of those things. Meanwhile, Pogba had a scan after the Arsenal game [at the end of last month] and maybe needed rest for a few weeks in a boot so hopefully, he won’t be too long, but he won’t make this game, no."

Although Spain drew the match 1-1 and secured a spot at the Euros, De Gea's injury could affect Man Utd.

The former champions, who hold the record for having won the most number of league titles, are just two points clear of the relegation zone at the 12th place on the points table, while Liverpool are yet to lose or draw a game in the ongoing 2019-20 Premier League season.
