KEY POINTS

  • Barcelona dealing most of its players this summer
  • Barca tries to bring in big name targets with deeper budget
  • Umtiti and Griezmann may head to Manchester United

FC Barcelona will be undergoing a major roster overhaul this summer and about eight players are reportedly headed out the door. These players are likely done at Camp Nou and headed to new teams by the next transfer window.

The reason behind the major overhaul is to be expected. Barca has a lot of top targets on their list and making room and adjusting to their budget is a must. Among the players expected to be heading out include Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Samuel Umtiti and Philippe Coutinho, Sport reported.

Of those names, Barca is expected to try and shop Rakitic and Vidal first. The contract of the two-player will be up by next summer and Barcelona wants to make sure they don't end up on empty. No team has been mentioned as of this writing but one is likely to crop up soon.

Umtiti, on the other hand, is someone who has been widely linked to a move to Manchester United. In another report from Sport, Barcelona is ready to part with the 26-year-old French defender but is asking £46 million in exchange. Umtiti will likely be paired with Harry Maguire over at the Red Devils side although there are questions on the status of his knee. The Cameroonian dealt with knee issues last season, a reason why he saw action sparingly.

In a previous post, it was mentioned that another player likely to leave is Antoine Griezmann. Barca has practically given up on the 29-year-old player after acquiring him last year for a record sum of $130 million from Atletico Madrid. Unfortunately, the investment has not paid off and now the Blaugranes want to recover some of the hefty investment. Barca is only interested in a nine-figure deal, numbers which indicate they want over €100 million for the French forward.

However, Griezmann's exit may reportedly still depend if Barca can bring in Neymar or Lautaro Martinez. A deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar makes sense although nothing has prospered for now. Another team interested in Griezmann is ironically Manchester United, the same team targeting Umtiti.

More names are being mentioned like Carles Alena, Martin Braithwaite, and Neto. A major facelift is brewing meaning it will be on busy summer for Barcelona F.C.
