KEY POINTS

  • Henderson likely to move to anohter team
  • United may stick with De Gea
  • Chelsea and PSG doing everything to get young goalkeeper

With nine clean sheets to show this season, it comes to no surprise that several ballclubs are in a mad chase to acquired Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson. The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the young and promising players right now and teams like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have taken notice.

In a report from ESPN, Henderson his highly rated but finds himself playing behind David De Gea and Sergio Romero. Aware that he could be of better use to other teams in need of a goalkeeper, Henderson is likely to get a new and better contract soon. He does have a live contract with Old Trafford until 2022 plus an option for another 12 months. United actually wanted to keep Henderson who is currently on loan. It may take a good offer to keep him with PSG and Chelsea seemingly bent on prying him to their side.

Henderson's performance has drawn praise from Manchester United coach Richard Harris. In fact, he is in line to represent England at the European Championship this summer, the Manchester Evening News reported.

"I happened to see him play against Liverpool at Anfield. So I am really, really pleased with how Dean is progressing. It is a big jump to go from the Championship to the Premier League, but he has shown that he can cope with that level of football at Sheffield United," Hartis said.

However, it remains to be seen if United will be using him over De Gea. Considering he was signed to a six-year contract worth £117 million last July, Man Utd wants to get its money's worth. Hence, here is where they need to make a decision. It is a fact that the 29-year-old goalkeeper is struggling and perhaps no one on their end projected Henderson to shine and be this good.

So far, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stuck with De Gea this season. But the story will obviously be different once Henderson's loan runs out. The Spanish football player has time to redeem himself but the attention right now is on Henderson. So far, only two teams have been mentioned in hot pursuit of the 22-year-old English football player. There could be others in the mix but it appears Chelsea and PSG are a step ahead of everyone.
