  • Beckham preps for inaugural season of Inter Miami
  • Neymar unlikely to join Inter Miami soon
  • Inter Miami linked to several big European footballers

Without question, David Beckham and Neymar are two of the popular names in the world of soccer. Beckham has since moved on to bigger things. He is now the president of Inter Miami CF and co-owner of Salford City. He is now busy preparing for the team's debut in 2020.

Getting players to play for him is something Beckham is likely to focus on moving forward. There are several big names across Europe linked to the new franchise. The list includes Edinson Cavani, David Silva, and Antoine Griezman, Goal.com reported. Would adding Neymar to that mix make sense?

Beckham is aware that getting Neymar will not be cheap. The Brazilian is the world's most expensive footballer after completing a $242 million move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Ironically, PSG is the same team where Beckham wrapped up his career back in 2017.

Both Beckham and Neymar recently appeared on Otro with both playfully discussing the future of Inter Miami. That included Beckham adding Neymar to his list of future targets. He backed it up by saying that he does have a contract in place to bring the Brazilian to Inter Miami but in "10 years time".

“So I’m going to get you to sign a piece of paper after. A blank piece of paper. It’s going to be a contract for Miami, for 10 years’ time. We’re not going to pay much,” Beckham said.

Neymar played along with Beckham, saying that there was a deal in place and that it was he who asked to play for his team. It was a hearty exchange with most unlikely to take the exchange seriously.

“A few years from now, I will be there. We’re in this together. He is my president,” Neymar said.

Taking that exchange in a different light, it appears that seeing Neymar play for Beckham is quite a long shot. Though anything is possible, there are several things to consider. One is that Neymar has actually struggled through injuries in France as well as some distractions off the field.

Regardless, there is no denying that Neymar remains a force to reckon with over at PSG. This 2019-20 season, he has accounted for 13 goals and six assists in his team's Ligue 1 campaign. From the looks of it, Neymar has no plans of slowing down. In fact, he seems poised to cop the Champions League to cap his current campaign.
