  • Pulisic could be back in action by Sunday against Everton
  • Lampard says Pulisic played at in-house game but was still rusty
  • Pulisic's return could boost Chelsea's chances on its remaining games

Chelsea FC fans got a piece of good news following weeks of seeming turmoil from within. As most know, the Blues are suffering from manpower problems. Many are injured while others are disgruntled. But team manager Frank Lampard revealed some good news on the status of Christian Pulisic.

The 21-year-old winger has been out of action after suffering an adductor injury during training. Until now, a return by the American winger was cloudy. But it appears Lampard has tried him out during an in-house game and it seems he made a good account of himself. Though Pulisic was reportedly still far from match fitness, there is now a chance that he could return in time for Chelsea's Sunday showdown with Everton, NBC Sports reported.

“It’s great to see Christian get some minutes. He’s short of match fitness but it’s the first time the injury has felt at a level to get him on a big pitch in a relatively competitive match. That’s a big step forward, hopefully,” Lampard said.

Without Pulisic, the Blues have been struggling. Manchester United and Wolverhampton are not far behind and getting some of his regulars back in action would be a welcome development for Lampard. Still out of action are Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Blues have had to turn to younger players who are still learning the ropes.

Speaking of young players, Lampard says that inexperience should not be used as an excuse. In a previous post, the Chelsea manager said that the youngster should rise to the occasion and keep pushing themselves, especially in the grand stage.

"It's a big deal and a test for the younger players and I think with the physical nature of the league throughout the season then there were always going to be little dips," Lampard said via Goal.com.

The Blues have a crucial stretch of games scheduled until the end of the season. It remains to be seen if there are other players who could return during that stretch. As for Pulisic, the possibility of seeing him back, even if it would be just on the bench, would be something. After a forgettable first season in the Premier League, playing the remainder of the season and helping the Blue finish strong would be a big statement.
