Pretty Little Liars
After suffering a tragic loss, Toby (Keegan Allen) will finally return to Rosewood and reunite with Spencer (Troian Bellisario) on “Pretty Little Liars” Season 7, episode 18. Freeform

“Pretty Little Liars” Season 7 is winding down to its final episodes and some of the series’ most popular characters haven’t received as much screen time as they were given in the past seasons, however, that’s all about to change when episode 18, “Choose or Lose,” premieres.

During an interview, the showrunner of the Freeform series, Marlene King, teased what fans can expect now that Toby (Keegan Allen) will be returning to Rosewood. A sneak peek of the upcoming episode also confirmed a Spoby reunion.

“He’s coming back soon, and [Yvonne’s death] was a huge blow for him,” King told HollywoodLife on Tuesday at the ATX Festival.

“That’s Toby’s MO. Some fans have been upset with it, they miss him on the show. But that’s what he does. When stuff happens that he doesn’t want to deal with, he takes off, and I think his return to the show will be really rewarding,” she explained.

A sneak peek of the upcoming episode featuring Toby’s return echoed King’s sentiments of reward when the character runs into his ex-girlfriend Spencer (Troian Bellisario), giving fans hope that Spoby may still happen.

In the video, Spencer can be seen grabbing a drink at the Radley when Toby approaches her. Shocked to see he is back in town following Yvonne’s (Kara Royster) death, Spencer greets him with a hug.

The two begin to talk and Toby reveals that he is back because Detective Tanner (Roma Maffia) called him into questioning about Archer Dunhill’s (Huw Elliott) murder.

Although Toby reveals that he is still struggling to deal with Yvonne’s death, he admits that he has been spending time at his cabin to get away from everything and tells Spencer that she is more than welcome to join him if she ever wants a break from all of the noise.

Even though Spencer looks interested in his offer, she changes the subject back to Tanner’s investigation. Toby reveals that it looks like Tanner is building a solid case in order to make an arrest in the Dunhill murder.

Spencer then asks Toby if she should be worried about Tanner which prompts him to ask if she had anything to do with the murder. Spencer ignores his question and gets ready to leave while refusing to tell Toby exactly where she is going for his own protection.

Viewers of the series know that Hanna (Ashley Benson) killed Archer Dunhill when she ran him over with a car while he was chasing Alison (Sasha Pieterse).

Although Spencer, Aria (Lucy Hale) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) were all in the car at the time of the murder, A.D. seems to be leaving clues that are sending the police to look at Spencer as the main suspect.

Toby’s return to Rosewood could mean there is another person around working to clear Spencer’s name in the murder case as well the possible reconciliation of a fan favorite couple.

Fans will just have to wait and see what the future holds for Spoby when “Pretty Little Liars” Season 7, episode 18, airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. EDT on Freeform.
