Prince Charles is better dressed compared to his sons Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Prince of Wales recently landed the 20th spot on GQ’s 50 best-dressed men in 2018. “Prince Charles has always dressed beautifully and he has always set a great example — not least to his son Prince William, another Savile Row customer,” designer Richard James said about the future king.

According to Simon Mills of Esquire, the heir stays true to traditional tailoring and cavalry-cut trousers. He also maintains clothes that never go out of style because they were never really in fashion in the first place.

“The brilliant thing about Prince Charles is the way he never follows trends, but still manages to look so stylish,” said Jeremy Hackett of the outfitters Hackett.

“He kept wearing double-breasted suits when everyone else had switched to single. It was a brave, if unconscious, move but one that paid off because now he's made that double-breasted style his own.”

Some believe that Prince Charles is better dressed than Prince William and Prince Harry because he is obsessed with his wardrobe. According to Tom Bower in his book “Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles,” four valets help Prince Charles change his clothes up to five times a day. He also reportedly asked his valet to steam iron his shoelaces, which Mills described as “details-obsessed.”

In the Netflix’s documentary “The Royals,” Zoe Griffin, editor and founder of Livelikeavip.com, criticized the Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex’s fashion. According to her, Prince Harry never wear anything smart while Prince William prefers disgusting suits.

“Prince Harry loves his chinos, and he wears rugby tops. Does he ever wear anything smart? Any suits? Is there any Ozwald Boateng or some tailoring? No. What does William wear? Disgusting grey suits. These boys have the luxury of any designer on earth wanting to dress them and they always look completely terrible,” she said.

However, not everyone may agree to this. Grazia senior fashion editor Katherine Ormerod has a different take on the Duke of Sussex's fashion. For her, Prince Harry is a fashion icon who "looks so well-to-do and well put together."

Interestingly, Prince William made it to GQ’s 50 best-dressed men in 2019. He secured the 48th spot, while the Prince of Wales didn’t make the cut this time. “William always looks impeccable yet totally accessible. This is a real trick and very difficult to do – to be seen and not heard,” designer Oliver Spencer said.
