Prince Harry was reportedly banned from going to a pub near Highgrove following his drunken outburst at the place years ago.

In the book “William and Harry,” author Katie Nicholl said Prince Harry had a troubled life when he was much younger. In the summer, Prince Harry and Prince William often spent time at Prince Charles’ Gloucestershire residence, where they had their own basement den called Club H. The royal siblings also enjoyed going to the local village pub the Rathbone Inn.

“Harry had spent the summer drinking at the pub under the watchful eye of his protection officers, who had been present at the all-night lock-ins. While Harry would not be served – he was still only 16 – his friends would buy him pints and chasers,” Nicholl said.

The author also said that marijuana was regularly smoked in the pub’s run-down outhouse and in the backroom bar, which was referred to as the magic room. On one occasion, the Duke of Sussex was asked to leave after drunkenly cursing at the French bar manager Franck Ortet.

In 2001, Ortet opened up about the incident during his interview with Daily Mail. He said that there were times wherein Prince Harry called his Froggie, and he would command the manager to give him a pint.

“When he was drinking in the pub, some of our regulars would call him a little brat under their breaths. They thought it was wrong that there was a prince sitting in their pub drinking underage and raising his voice,” he said.

But several years later, it seems that Prince Harry has become a changed man especially since he wed Meghan Markle. During his recent outing in Birkenhead, the Duke of Sussex revealed that Markle has inspired him to meditate daily. Prince Harry has also reportedly stopped smoking and drinking even before the Duchess of Sussex became pregnant.

In April, Prince Harry and Markle will also welcome their first child. This means that more positive changes may be expected from the first-time dad. Markle recently told royal fans that her due date is fast approaching.
