On the day that people are thinking back to three years ago when Prince William wed Kate Middleton in a lavish ceremony, rumors have swirled that younger brother Prince Harry and his girlfriend Cressida Bonas have called it quits. The alleged breakup isn’t official, but insiders told People magazine that things between the two weren’t working out because of Bonas’ reported needs that the royal prince could not fill.

"He found her too needy and it just wasn't working out," says a source close to the prince. Harry, 29, and Bonas, 24, dated for nearly two years. Though one insider said that Harry was fed up with Bonas, another said the split was “amicable.”

"It's very sad but they have decided to split up," the second source told People. "This is an amicable decision and they are very much still the best of friends but they have decided to go their separate ways."

The insider told People Bonas wants to focus on her career and hopes she won’t be “hounded” now that the news that her relationship with Prince Harry has ended. According to a January 2014 report by The Sun via the Mirror, Bonas originally wanted to be a professional dancer but gave that up to work in theater marketing.

The split seems abrupt, especially since Bonas attended her first official event last month. She supported her beau as he gave a speech at the launch of WE Day, which is a charity event for Save the Children at Wembly Arena.

It was rumored that Kate Middleton was the reason for the breakup. Though the insinuation alone sounds malicious, the Duchess of Middleton was just informing Bonas of what it was like to be married to a royal prince. Bonas allegedly wanted to cool things down with her prince after his sister-in-law was honest with Bonas about the expectations that come along with being part of the royal family and how busy her life is now.
