Prince Harry used to follow Meghan Markle on Instagram via a secret social media account during the early days of their relationship, a new tell-all book said.

An excerpt from the book “Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family” published by The Times revealed that Prince Harry had an Instagram account with the handle @SpikeyMau5 and used this profile to follow then-girlfriend Markle. The name is a combination of his nickname “Spike” and the Canadian DJ Deadmau5.

Royal correspondents Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote in their book that the pair began following each other on the platform after the first time they went on a date.

Markle and Prince Harry later stopped using social media when they made their relationship public. The account only had two followers upon its deletion, one of them being the former "Suits" star's Instagram.

Around the time the two started dating, Markle also posted in her now-deleted Instagram account a photo of a candy heart with the words "Kiss Me," along with the caption, "Lovehearts in #London."

A source told Scobie and Durand that Markle and Prince Harry were "in their own little world" during their blind date at Soho House's Dean Street Townhouse in London in 2016. The couple spent nearly three hours together during their first date but didn't share a kiss at the end of the night.

"Almost immediately they were almost obsessed with each other," a friend told the "Finding Freedom" authors. "It was as if Harry was in a trance."

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated that they "were not interviewed and did not contribute" to the book in any way.

Meanwhile, her Instagram was not the only account Markle had taken down when she started dating Prince Harry. The actress' lifestyle website, The Tig, was also deactivated.

"After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it's time to say goodbye to The Tig. What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity," Markle wrote on her blog.

As for Prince Harry, he reportedly had a secret Facebook account as well with the name "Spike Wells," which also references his nickname, Page Six noted. The profile had King Julien from the animated film "Madagascar" as the display photo and was set with the location Maun, Botswana, which is known to be a favorite of the Duke of Sussex.

Previous reports claimed that Prince Harry’s Facebook account was live while he was dating his ex, Chelsy Davis. It has over 400 friends, some of whom were U.K.’s richest. It also reportedly featured photos of him and his former flame, along with a snap of three men in Panama tops.
