Prince Philip did an absurd thing during the birth of his children, but Prince Harry, who is expecting his first child with Meghan Markle, might not follow suit.

Decades ago, the Duke of Edinburgh decided to play squash while Queen Elizabeth II was in labor with Prince Charles. Steve Bird, a journalist for Daily Mail, said that Prince Philip was actually a nervous wreck during the birth of his first son.

This is why he decided to play squash, and he also went for a swim in the palace pool while his wife was giving birth to the future king. As he was drying himself, a footman approached Prince Philip and asked me to hurry because his son had already been born.

“When the Princess came around from her anesthetic, the Duke of Edinburgh was there with a bottle of champagne and a large bouquet of red roses and carnations, the Queen’s favorite flowers, that his equerry had the foresight to buy earlier,” Bird wrote.

Several years later, it is Prince Harry’s turn to become a dad. He won’t likely play squash or dip in the pool while Meghan Markle gives birth. After all, the Duke of Sussex is expected to be in the same room while the Duchess of Sussex is in labor.

Prince Harry has also freed up his diary to ensure that he would be around when his baby arrives. This week, Prince Harry did not participate in the Anzac Day ceremony, which may have to do with his decision to be beside his wife. Last year, Prince Harry attended the ceremony and even laid a wreath.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Markle have decided to keep their baby’s birth private. Details about Baby Sussex will be unveiled after the couple gets the chance to celebrate privately first. As of late, it is also unclear where Markle will give birth.
