The royal family’s Christmas photos were airbrushed subtly.

On Friday, Kensington Palace released Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Christmas cards. Clarence House also shared the photo for Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ holiday card.

Creative retoucher Terry Obiora shared his professional opinion about the royals’ photos. According to him, if they underwent a digital retouching, it was “subtle.”

“Dark patches under the eyes may have been lifted, stray hairs may have been cleaned up, creases in clothes (particularly Charles’ suit) may have been reduced,” Obiora pointed out to Express the things that might have been digitally altered.

“Other than that, maybe the tonal values and colours have been enhanced to get a nicer effect, warmer tones may have been increased to get a more autumnal feel for the picture of Kate and William,” he added.

Obiora pointed out that there shouldn’t be an issue if the photos were airbrushed. He said that everybody uses filters for the photos they post on Instagram, so why can’t the royal family do the same?

An insider added that only a minimal airbrushing was done. The royals “were touched up a little to get them just right.”

Prince William and Middleton’s Christmas card this holiday featured a more relaxed tone. The snap was taken by Matt Porteous and it features the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their three children — 5-year-old Prince George, 3-year-old Princess Charlotte and 7-month-old Princess Louis — in Anmer Hall.

In the snap, Prince William and Middleton rest against a tree trunk in woodland. The Duchess of Cambridge is carrying Prince Louis who is wearing blue tights. On the other hand, Princess Charlotte and Prince George are standing and are all smiles as they hold the Duke of Cambridge.

The family is wearing casual clothes by opting for sweaters and jeans. Based on their body language, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are sharing the fun of their cute family. Royal fans are very pleased with the photo. Majority agreed that it was “adorable.”

On the other hand, Prince Harry and Markle opted for a more glamorous snap. The couple used a never-before-seen wedding photo.

Prince Charles and Camilla’s photo is much simpler. It’s not as grand as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s and not as colorful as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s. But the shot is as adorable.
