Prince William and Kate Middleton have reacted to the palace’s recent announcement regarding Meghan Markle’s pregnancy.

According to Kensington Palace’s statement, Prince William and Middleton congratulated Markle and Prince Harry on the happy news in person while they were at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

“Their Royal Highnesses are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the spring of 2019. Their Royal Highnesses very much appreciate all the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share their happy news. The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple and were able to congratulate them on Friday at the wedding in person,” the statement read (via Express).

Markle’s mom Doria Ragland’s reaction has also been revealed by the palace. The yoga instructor is reportedly ecstatic over the news and is looking forward to her first grandchild’s arrival next year.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle Sr., learned that his daughter was expecting before the palace made the announcement. However, Matthew Robinson, a journalist for Express, said that this wasn’t the case because Markle and her dad are currently not on speaking terms.

“He heard the news before it was made public and was overjoyed. He thinks Meghan will make a great mom as she is already so maternal. Thomas sees this as a chance to fix the problems between him, Meghan, and Harry,” a source said.

During his previous interview on “Good Morning Britain,” Thomas said that Markle has always wanted to become a mom. And during an interview with Daily Mail, the former lighting director said that he’s sad this his grandchild may grow up without a grandfather because he has not spoken to his daughter for months.

“How tragic is that, to deprive a child of its grandfather because I said a few things critical of the royal family?” he said.
