On Aug. 31, 1997, Princess Diana, also known as the “People’s Princess,” passed away in a car crash while traveling in Paris with Dodi Fayed, a man she was romantically linked with at the time.

Thursday marks the 20th death anniversary of the former Princess of Wales. Diana was best known for the humanitarian work she did across the globe, helping the needy in remote parts of the world and bringing to the public eye a side of the British monarchy that had never been seen before.

To commemorate the day, the world remembers the princess who won the hearts of people not just in the United Kingdom, but the rest of the world too. Here are a few quotes by Diana, taken from BrainyQuote :

1. Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.

2. I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I am very happy to do that, I want to do that.

3. Nothing brings me more happiness than trying to help the most vulnerable people in society. It is a goal and an essential part of my life - a kind of destiny. Whoever is in distress can call on me. I will come running wherever they are.
