Princess Diana’s engagement interview was recently compared with Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s interviews. Royal author and expert Andrew Morton said that the Princess of Wales’ interview was worlds away from Markle and Middleton’s.

In the book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” Morton wrote, “Meghan’s engagement interview was worlds away from the shy, blushing days of Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles, and his comment ‘whatever love means,’ which skewered his romantic reputation forever.”

Morton went on to discuss Prince William and Middleton’s engagement interview from 2010. The couple tied the knot in 2011.

“Different, too, from the formal and conventional affair when Prince William and Kate Middleton faced the cameras. Then a visibly, and understandably nervous Kate deferred to William in her responses. Not this time. Meghan was warm, affectionate and supportive, more at ease with the media than her royal fiancé,” he said.

Prince Harry and Markle announced their engagement in November 2017, and they tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19. Prince Charles and Princess Diana announced their engagement in 1981. However, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage ended up in a divorce in 1996.

During their engagement interview, Markle and Prince Harry appeared to be very comfortable with each other. Since then, they have been dubbed as the most affectionate royal couple in public because they always held hands and touched each other’s leg, back and arm.

The royal couple also shared how Prince Harry dropped down to his knees and proposed to the “Suits” alum. They were having a cozy evening at Frogmore Cottage that time. Markle was roasting a chicken for her then-boyfriend, and Prince Harry said that he felt that moment was the perfect time for him to propose.

Before Prince Harry could even finish asking Markle to marry him, the former Hollywood star already gave him a big yes. The couple was all smiles while remembering the moment that Prince Harry proposed weeks before their interview with the BBC.

Prince Harry and Markle were introduced to each other by their common friend.
