Princess Eugenie’s friend, Cara Delevingne, turned heads when she arrived at the royal’s wedding on Oct. 12.

The supermodel was spotted in her Emporio Armani suit with tails, a top hat, and black court heels. At first glance, it was evident that Delevingne broke royal protocol because female guests are required to wear day dresses and hats at formal occasions such as a royal wedding.

But one month after Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank tied the knot, the 26-year-old model told Hello! that she asked Princess Eugenie’s permission regarding her attire.

“Eugenie has been a friend of mine since I was a kid and I’ve always wanted to wear tails. I texted her as I wasn’t sure about it. She was like, ‘Of course, I expected nothing else from you!’” she said (via The Sun).

Despite receiving some criticisms, Delevingne revealed that she received more praises for her bold look at the royal wedding.

“I found it interesting how many people came up to me and said ‘you’re so brave to wear that!’ I was like, ‘Really? I feel way more comfortable like this,’” she said.

Last year, Delevingne opened up about her sexuality and said that she’s fluid.

“Once I spoke about my sexual fluidity, people were like, ‘So you’re gay.’ And I’m like, ‘No, I’m not gay.’ A lot of the friends I have who are straight have such an old way of thinking. It’s ‘So you’re just gay, right?’ They don’t understand it. If I’m like, ‘Oh, I really like this guy,’ they’re like, ‘But you’re gay.’ I’m like, ‘No, you’re so annoying!’ Someone is in a relationship with a girl one minute, or a boy is in a relationship with a boy, I don’t want them to be pigeonholed. Imagine if I’m married to a man. Would people be like… ‘She lied to us!’” she told Glamour UK.

But despite her frustrations on the subject, Delevingne said that she’s happy with the fact that sexuality has become something that’s easier to talk about in recent years.

“I am very happy how sexuality has become easier and freer to talk about, especially for kids,” she said.
