  • Other titles like "No Man's Sky," "Horizon Zero Dawn," and "God of War" are also among those predicted freebies

Rumors have already begun to fly regarding what PlayStation Plus free games will be available for the PlayStation 4 for July 2020.

As is Sony’s practice, July 1 will be the date when free games will be announced and fans on Reddit have already been speculating what games will be offered. The release date for the free games will likely be on July 7.

The games that have been getting a lot of attention lately include two names that have been making headlines in recent weeks, namely “Resident Evil 7” and “Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy.” Another game that is being discussed is survival exploration title “No Man’s Sky.”

Since there hasn’t been a free horror game in some time, user Erebus96 surmises that releasing “Resident Evil 7” on PS Plus would make perfect sense. It not only draws attention for that title from Capcom, but it also generates hype for the coming “Resident Evil Village.” A lot of buzz has surrounded the latter game since a trailer was released mere weeks ago in conjunction with news on the PlayStation 5.

Like the “Resident Evil” series, Crash Bandicoot has also been in the news after “Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time” was formally announced just last week. Developed by Toys for Bob and Activision, that platform title marks the long-awaited return of the title character in a game slated for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Following the logic of the possible “Resident Evil 7” release then, the Reddit thread speculates that 2017’s “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy” will be given away via PS Plus. This game was a compilation of the first three games from the 90s, namely “Crash Bandicoot,” “Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back,” and “Crash Bandicoot Warped.” It was developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision and released on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

The fact that Hello Games’ “No Man’s Sky” just appeared on Xbox Game Pass makes a giveaway on PS Plus more likely for the title. Its initial release on PS4 and PC in 2016 saw the combination of exploration, survival, combat, and trading game gain enough popularity to merit an Xbox One release in 2018.

Several first-party exclusives are also mentioned in the thread covering PS Plus predictions because Sony has been giving away other first-party games before. “Uncharted,” “The Last of Us Remastered,” “Bloodborne,” and “Shadow of the Colossus” are some of those previous first-party exclusives that were offered for free.

Speculations for this round of freebies include “ Horizon Zero Dawn,” “God of War,” and “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.” Other titles being bandied about are “Gravity Rush,” “Everybody’s Golf,” and “Ratchet and Clank.” Long requested though still unreleased on PS Plus, however, is steampunk action-adventure title “The Order 1886.”
