  • He is in Green Group in ATP Finals 2022
  • Nadal is the top seed following Alcaraz's withdrawal

Rafael Nadal is next set to compete in the ATP Tour Finals, the year's last tournament. The World No. 2 recently suffered a second-round exit from Paris Masters.

ATP Tour Finals is second in the list of the most coveted tournaments in tennis after the Grand Slam events and Nadal, who is a 22-time Grand Slam winner, is yet to win the ATP Tour Finals trophy.

The top eight players of the ATP ranking fight it out for the Tour Finals title and in the upcoming edition, Nadal will be up against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Andrey Rublev and Taylor Fritz, who was awarded an entry into the tournament following the withdrawal of World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz due to a muscle injury.

Nadal is in Green Group, along with Frtiz, Ruud and Auger-Aliassime. The remaining players are in the Red Group.

ATP Tour Finals 2022 will begin on Nov. 12 in Turin, Italy. The Spaniard, who is the top seed in this edition, is set to face off against Fritz in his campaign opener Sunday.

Nadal has a better head-to-head record against Fritz (2-1). The World No. 2 had the win when they met earlier this year at Wimbledon. However, Fritz made Nadal work really hard before the latter sealed a five-set win in the quarter-finals at the All England Club.

Moreover, Fritz defeated Nadal in the final of the ATP 1000 Masters Indian Wells earlier this year. By doing so, he ended Nadal's career-best start to the year of 21 straight wins.

When and where will the match be played?

Nadal vs. Fritz group stage match will take place Sunday at Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy.
