The Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in the NFL and everyone else is fighting for second place. That much is clear heading into Week 5 when the defending Super Bowl champs host the Las Vegas Raiders.

Kansas City has a 4-0 record, sitting atop the AFC West and two games ahead of Las Vegas. A win Sunday would give the Chiefs a comfortable lead that the Raiders or any other team in the division will likely be unable to erase in the 2020 season.

The second largest point spread of Week 5 favors Kansas City by 12.5 points, according to odds compiled by OddsShark. The betting total is 56.5.

Defeating the New England Patriots 26-10 Monday night, the Chiefs maintained their perfect record with a third win by two touchdowns. Kansas City beat the Baltimore Ravens by 14 points in Week 3, eliminating any notion that Lamar Jackson and Co. might actually be the league’s top team.

Las Vegas won its first two games of the season, beating the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints. With a chance to prove that they could potentially challenge Kansas City in the division, the Raiders failed with consecutive losses against two AFC contenders.

The Raiders lost in New England 36-20 in Week 3. The Buffalo Bills beat Las Vegas 30-23 last week. Las Vegas scored a meaningless touchdown in the final 90 minutes of the Week 4 contest.

It’s going to be a similar story for the Raiders Sunday when they face the NFL’s No.1 contender.

The Chiefs rank fifth in total offense. Patrick Mahomes continues to dominate opposing defenses, posting a 114.1 passer rating with no interceptions. Kansas City has failed to score 23 points in just one of Mahomes’ career starts.

With Mahomes under center, the Chiefs are 4-0 against the Raiders, averaging 35.8 points per game. Kansas City’s average margin of victory in those contests is 22 points.

Andy Reid and the Chiefs have beaten the Raiders nine times in their last 10 matchups. The Chiefs are 4-1 against the spread in their last five matchups with the Raiders.

Kansas City is 12-1 against the spread in its last 13 games and 9-0 ATS in its last nine home games.

The Raiders are 15th in total offense. Las Vegas has hit the 20-point mark in every game, but it has allowed at least 24 points in every game. Three teams have scored 30 points or more against the Raiders.

The Chiefs rank in the top 10 in both total rushing yards and yards per carry. The Raiders are 25th in rushing defense and 27th in opponents’ yards per carry.

Look for Kansas City to jump out to a big lead and never look back.

Prediction: Kansas City over Las Vegas, 37-23
