Rape Accused Accompanied By Family Parades Teen Victim Naked Through Streets

A man in India was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl multiple times on the pretext of marrying her. When the villagers questioned the assault, the suspect, along with his family members, paraded the victim naked through the streets, reports said.

The horrifying incident occurred in a village in the eastern Indian state of Bihar on Oct. 26. Three suspects, including main accused Vipin Paswan, who allegedly raped the unidentified teenager, were arrested Wednesday. Meanwhile, the cops are searching for the fourth suspect who is on the lam, Times Now News reported.

Investigators determined that the minor girl, who previously had a relationship with Paswan, was brought to his home on the pretext of marriage and was not allowed to leave. The accused reportedly kept her at his home and sexually assaulted her multiple times for three days, officials said.

When the villagers heard about the abuse, they objected to Paswan who then questioned the girl's character. Paswan along with his father, brother, uncle and mother, reportedly paraded the helpless victim through the streets while she wore only a towel around her neck.

The incident came to light after the victim approached cops and filed a complaint about the abuse.

"After facing extreme humiliation, the victim approached the police and narrated her ordeal. We have registered an FIR against four persons, three of whom have been arrested. Vipin's mother is still absconding and a hunt is on to nab her," an investigating officer, Pushpalata Kumari said, as reported by The New Indian Express.

In a similar incident reported in October, a 15-year-old rape victim in India was set ablaze by the perpetrator's family in a village in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The 25-year-old accused identified only by his first name Abhishek was infuriated when the village council ordered him to marry the teen after she got pregnant. Abhishek's mother and sister reportedly took the victim to their house, poured kerosene over her, and set her ablaze. The girl suffered severe burn injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition.
