  • Erling Haaland is contracted with Dortmund until 2024
  • He is being chased by several top European clubs
  • He has scored 57 goals in 59 games for Dortmund so far

Real Madrid have reportedly agreed to personal terms with Erling Haaland, who is on the wish list of many other top European clubs, in the ongoing summer market.

The La Liga giants now have to negotiate with Borussia Dortmund over Haaland’s transfer fee, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who is a reliable source in Italy.

Haaland, who is contracted with Dortmund until 2024, has been labeled with an asking price of around $209 million.

If Haaland is sold at the 2021 summer window, the transfer fee alone is expected to be enormous, given the talent and demand across European clubs, even though his market value is around $145 million, according to Transfermarkt. However, Real Madrid are not willing to go overboard with the fee, soccer website 90Min reported.

Moreover, clubs can buy Haaland for cheap in the summer of 2022 as his deal with Dortmund includes a clause that could see his release clause fall to $90 million.

Whichever club lands Haaland will have to match the Norwegian forward’s hefty demands. The 90Min report also claimed that the 20-year-old forward wants a salary of at least $838,000-per-week, an amount which could disrupt the wage structure of any club -- even a wealthy club like Real Madrid.

It was earlier reported that Liverpool were looking at Haaland as an ideal long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino. But Liverpool are known for their restricted wage structure and Haaland’s demands certainly won’t go well with the Jurgen Klopp-managed club.

Haaland has also been a top target of Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had failed to convince his countryman to join Old Trafford as Haaland eventually moved from RB Salzburg to Dortmund during the 2020 winter window.

Having played 59 competitive matches for Dortmund since his arrival in 2020, Haaland has netted an incredible 57 goals and has been involved in 15 more goals. In the 2020-21 Bundesliga, Haaland (27 goals) finished third in the goals chart, behind leader Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich (41) and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Andre Silva (28 goals).
