  • Real Madrid is said to be raising funds for their bid to sign PSG's Kylian Mbappe
  • Mbappe has been on the Los Blancos' radar for quite some time now
  • Real Madrid could sell high salary-players like Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez to establish financial flexibility

There has not been much fuzz in terms of transfer movements in Real Madrid as of late, but the strange stillness appears to be an indication that the Spanish capital could be bracing for the ultimate chase in the market. As they refuse to make quite unnecessary deals, the Los Blancos continue to raise funds, and these savings are reportedly intended for their bid to acquire Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe.

Kevin Parvizi of Fansided’s The Real Champs reported that the Merengues have kept the World Cup winner on their radar as their fans continue to get teased with the potential move in 2021.

“For more than a year, Real Madrid fans have been hearing about how 2021 is the year to make a swoop for Kylian Mbappe. Unless if PSG somehow decides to play hardball and let the superstar go for free if he doesn’t sign a new contract, 2021 is the year for Los Blancos to snag the most expensive player in the world,” Parvizi wrote.

“Mbappe, to Real, is worth any price. There is nobody on the planet who could make as big of an impact at the Santiago Bernabeu as Mbappe, both from a footballing and economic perspective. He is the superstar of all superstars in the attack with his goal-scoring touch, fantastic movement off the ball, work ethic, and scintillating acceleration on the ball.”

The report stated that Real Madrid is already putting up about $230 million in funds as the club prepares its offer for the French superstar. However, it is suggested that a buffer of around $350 million has to be hoisted up for PSG to even consider a negotiation.

“Real Madrid hasn’t been making any signings this summer, and they are trying to raise nearly 200 million euros in funds. The reason? They are trying to pinch every penny during the economic crisis and want to still be able to afford a huge bid for Mbappe,” Parvizi continued.

“Real Madrid may even have to spend 300 million euros for the PSG superstar next year. While that seems like an unrealistically high price tag, PSG can ask for anything. And Real have to prepare to meet any price for the player.”

While the actual cost to sign Mbappe is yet to be determined, one certain thing is the need for Real Madrid to establish enough flexibility in terms of money, which might force the club into a decision to sell high salary-players like Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez.
