KEY POINTS

  • Real Madrid has been performing well despite experiencing injuries from their star players
  •  Eder Militao has been one of the young talents to step up for the team in the current stretch of the season
  • The La Liga standings have Real Madrid on top with 77 points

The past few games for Real Madrid have been close but the Los Blancos remain undefeated ever since the La Liga season resumed. While the team has had their share of injuries, they’ve also maintained a composed roster with the likes of Eder Militao stepping up for the club.

There’s no question that Militao has proven himself as one of the more reliable players of Real Madrid given how well he’s played as of late. With Raphael Varane sidelined, Militao has shown glimpses of how he can dominate on the pitch for Zinedine Zidane. The manner of how he controls the pace of the defense has been pivotal in Real Madrid’s latest games.

The club’s match against Getafe proved to be vital night as that was when Militao was able to excel with the increased number of minutes he played. Per The Real Champs, Militao was able to support stars such as Sergio Ramos that night with the way they led their team to another clean sheet.

Throughout the season it has been expected that Varane and Ramos would be the elite defenders of the team. But with the recent stretch in the season, Militao has also been anticipated as a key figure as a center back. The 22-year-old has only shown up for 17 games in Real Madrid but has already displayed the potential care of his crafty movement and excellent vision on the field. The Brazilian rising star has had career averages of 1.5 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 2.4 clearances per outing.

It’s important for Zidane’s team to maintain their momentum as they’re currently on top of the La Liga team standings with 77 points. They are currently at 23 wins, eight draws and three losses. With Barcelona trailing them with 73 points, the Santiago Bernabeu-based squad must do what they can to pull away as the top seed.

It will be vital to see how Real Madrid moves forward with their lineup. Expectations are high for the organization and it will be interesting to see if Militao can continue his development as a prized defender for the team.
