Actress Scarlett Johansson and her boyfriend Colin Jost are one of the hottest celebrity couples in the industry and hence, frequently become the subject of false rumors. One such latest story surrounding their relationship claimed that the pair had gotten secretly engaged over Thanksgiving this year and were preparing to announce their wedding soon – a rumor that was debunked.

The rumor was created by Star magazine through an article in its latest issue, which read, “Scarlett & Colin: Ready To Wed.” In the article, an anonymous tipster told the tabloid the couple was ready to get married after just a year and a half of dating each other.

“There’s buzz that Colin popped the question over Thanksgiving. Scarlett had just celebrated her birthday and this was the greatest gift she could have asked for,” the unnamed source claimed.

So what convinced the “Avengers” actress to say yes? According to the questionable insider, the fact that the “Saturday Night Live” star had gotten close to her four-year-old daughter was one of the most important reasons that had convinced her that “they’re meant to be.”

The source further went on to add that the pair was already making preparations to say “I do” in a ceremony that was scheduled to take place sometime next year.

“Their friends want to see them go all-out. Everyone’s just waiting for a save-the-date!” the tipster said.

Beyond the made-up information, the tabloid provides no details about the upcoming wedding, such as a tentative date or venue, or how Jost allegedly proposed to his girlfriend. Gossip Cop reached out to Johansson’s rep, who confirmed the couple was not engaged. While their relationship was going strong, they had not reached the stage when they would want to take the next step.

A similar rumor started to spread last year too, before it was debunked, where a tabloid claimed Jost was “looking at massive diamonds and the plan is for a romantic vacay proposal, where they’ll ring in the New Year with a sparkly engagement ring.”

Johansson has always been open about her concept of marriage after two failed attempts at the institution with actor Ryan Reynolds and journalist Roman Dauriac.

“I think the idea of marriage is very romantic; it’s a beautiful idea, and the practice of it can be a very beautiful thing. I don’t think it’s natural to be a monogamous person. I might be skewered for that, but I think it’s work. It’s a lot of work. And the fact that it is such work for so many people — for everyone — the fact of that proves that it is not a natural thing. It’s something I have a lot of respect for and have participated in, but I think it definitely goes against some instinct to look beyond,” she said in the April 2017 issue of Playboy magazine.
