Reggie Miller recalled the time Kobe Bryant stole one of his famous moves.

During his playing years and even now that he’s already gone, Bryant was known for his inquisitive spirit. In fact, even before his very first NBA game, the young Bryant has already shown his thirst to become one of the greatest NBA players in the world. Some may not know, but Bryant would often call up some of the best players in the game to pick their brains during his rookie season.

Miller was one of the first NBA stars to receive a call from Bryant. He developed a relationship with the youngster, and it all started because they both shared the same agent – Arn Tellem.

In an appearance on “Inside The NBA,” Miller shared the story of how the up-and-coming Bryant stole and actually used one of his move against him.

According to Miller, their agent Tellem called him up one day to help Bryant prepare as he enters the NBA. Miller said “OK” and during a scheduled game against the cast of the Real World (TV reality show), all Bryant wanted to do was play one-on-one against Miller and learn his go-to moves.

“So we get there, and we’re playing soft 1-on-1, I’m doing my stepback jumper, and he’s like how do you do that move? And I show him. Because I was trying to take things from him as well, he had this killer crossover; I’m like: how do you do that? So we’re exchanging our go-to moves,” Miller recalled.

Little did Miller knows, Bryant will master his stepback move and use it against him in an actual NBA game. What’s even worse was that Bryant edged Miller and Pacers during the 2000 NBA Finals with the said move.

“As he’s (Bryant) running down the court, he pats me on the back and says ‘you never should have shown me that step back’,” Miller revealed.

In the same appearance, Miller also revealed how Bryant wanted to know what was all the intricate trash-talking and moves that were going on between him and Michael Jordan.

Miller then told Bryant that: “I refused to call Michael, ‘Michael Jordan,’ so I called him the ‘Black Cat'.” Upon hearing what Miller just said, Bryant has gone silent for a few seconds before finally saying: “You’re gonna refer to me as the ‘Caramel Cat'.”

At the time, Miller got the point and knew the young Bryant was already referring to himself as the next MJ.
