"Rick and Morty" co-creator Dan Harmon has deleted his Twitter account.

Harmon was recently under fire after his controversial video from 2009 surfaced. "Daryl," a five-minute comedy pilot, stars Harmon, whose character enters through a window, removes his pants and while half-naked, rubs his genitals against a baby doll on a couch, Comic Book reported.

Harmon joked about his character and even described it as "a baby rapist with a heart of gold." He also dubbed its content as "controversial."

Some compared Harmon to James Gunn, who also irked social media users after Mike Cernovic dug up his old tweets where the "Guardians of the Galaxy" director repeatedly joked about pedophilia. Marvel fired Gunn from the franchise. He was supposedly set to helm its third movie.

Fans had different reactions after Harmon deleted his Twitter account. Some "Rick and Morty" fans said they believe that it was not necessary and that Harmon should not be fired from Adult Swim because he was known for his dark humor.

"The Dan harmon thing is waayyyy less of a big deal than the Gunn thing, which wasn't a big deal in the first place," one user wrote.

"If 'Rick & Morty' gets cancelled over an old Dan Harmon video that's basically the equivalent of a [expletive], I'm leaving this planet. Don't care how. Too many smug people on both sides who can hash out jokes about other people or topics, but can't take them once the tide turns," Haley Valenta posted.

"Can we stop punishing people for things they said a decade ago?" Temporal Enigma wrote. "There's a line of course, but a joke, regardless of how funny it is, is still a joke and although we don't think about it, the world was very different 10 years ago. First James Gunn, now Dan Harmon, this is crazy."

On the other hand, there were also users who think it's best if "Rick and Morty" will be canceled following Harmon's controversy. Others were wondering how Harmon was given a break following his offensive behavior.

"Why is Dan Harmon allowed to make a living after making a joke like that?Influences our culture with rape?" kadu narobu wrote.
