  • A judge in Puerto Rico has issued a restraining order against Ricky Martin
  • Representatives for Martin said the domestic abuse allegations against the singer are "completely false and fabricated"
  • The restraining order comes days after Martin was slapped with a $3 million lawsuit from his former manager

Ricky Martin has addressed the domestic abuse restraining order filed against him in Puerto Rico.

Martin is facing a complaint made under Law 54, also known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act, according to the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law. Authorities have not revealed the petitioner's name due to the nature of the bill.

Representatives for Martin denied the allegations against the 50-year-old Puerto Rican singer, saying in a statement to People: "The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated. We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated."

The details surrounding the complaint remain unclear, but news site NotiCel reported that the singer's husband, Jwan Yosef, is not the person who requested the restraining order stemming from a domestic violence allegation.

The petitioner did not initially file a police complaint but instead went to court in their own right to request a protection order, which was issued by Judge Raiza Cajigas Campbell of the Court of First Instance of San Juan following a request from an ex parte, Telemundo reported.

Police attempted to issue the restraining order Friday in the Puerto Rico neighborhood where Martin lives, the Associated Press reported. However, authorities have not yet delivered the order to the "La Mordidita" singer because police have not been able to find him.

Police spokesman Axel Valencia told AP that "the order prevents Martin from contacting the person who made the complaint and that a judge will decide later whether the order should remain in place."

The domestic abuse allegations came after Martin's former manager Rebecca Drucker sued him for more than $3 million in unpaid commissions, according to the legal documents obtained by People. The lawsuit was filed with the Los Angeles Central District Court Wednesday.

Drucker's 15-page complaint claimed that she helped Martin with his "recording contracts, touring and sponsorship deals, and other professional endeavors" and that he "made millions of dollars and therefore owes Rebecca substantial commissions."

Drucker further alleged that Martin "fostered a toxic work environment wherein he constantly mistreated, manipulated, and lied to Rebecca, forcing her to resign as his manager in April 2022."

She also claimed that Martin has "threatened her" and is attempting to force her to sign an agreement with a nondisclosure clause to silence Rebecca about the abhorrent behavior by Martin that she has both witnessed and endured."

Martin's rep declined to comment about Drucker's case at the time.
