Can anyone stop Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens? The San Francisco 49ers will be the latest team to try when they take on NFL MVP front-runner Lamar Jackson and the league’s best offense.

Sunday’s matchup between the Ravens and 49ers is the best game on the Week 13 schedule. It’s a potential Super Bowl LIV preview, pitting the hottest team in football against the No.1 ranked offense.

Baltimore extended its winning streak to seven games with a dominant 45-6 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The Ravens are seemingly getting better every week, scoring more than 40 points in three straight games with a minimum 34-point margin of victory in all those contests.

Four weeks ago, Baltimore handed the New England Patriots their only loss of the 2019 season with a 37-20 drubbing of the defending Super Bowl champs. That game was on the heels of a 30-16 road win against the Seattle Seahawks when Russell Wilson was first in the MVP race.

If any team has a prayer of slowing down the NFL’s most dynamic offense, it’s the 49ers. San Francisco leads the league in total defense and opponents’ yards per play. The 49ers jumped ahead of the Patriots when they completely shut down Aaron Rodgers in Week 12, holding the quarterback to 104 passing yards on 33 attempts.

San Francisco has made a couple of the league’s top signal callers look ordinary. When the Seahawks needed overtime to hand the 49ers their only loss of the season, Russell Wilson was held to 232 yards and an 86.9 passer rating.

Jackson has been in a class of his own this season. The second-year player is coming off his second game with five touchdown passes and no interceptions. Jackson has an average passer rating of 136.1 in November with 13 passing touchdowns, no interceptions and three rushing touchdowns.

Jackson last threw a pick on Oct. 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s 10th in the NFL with 79.6 rushing yards per game. Jackson’s 7.1 yards per carry are by far the most of any player.

Both Raheem Mostert and Matt Breida are averaging at least 5.0 yards per carry for San Francisco. The 49ers have the NFL’s second-best rushing attack, trailing only the Ravens.

Baltimore leads the league with 35.1 points per game. San Francisco is second with 30.2 points per game.

The betting odds suggest that the Ravens are the better team, even though the 49ers are a game ahead in the overall standings. Baltimore is up to a six-point favorite at home, according to OddsShark. The total is 46.

The 49ers probably aren’t getting enough respect, considering what they’ve done in 2019. Jimmy Garoppolo has been good enough, making some big plays when San Francisco has trailed late in games. The quarterback hasn’t had to do much because of the 49ers’ dominant defense and rushing attack.

Sunday’s game should be a close one. It might feature fewer points than many expect. Baltimore’s defense has made an impressive turnaround in recent weeks.

San Francisco has a shot to pull off the upset. It’s just hard to bet against Jackson and Baltimore with the way they are rolling.
