Sarah Ferguson and Prince Philip have not made amends ahead of Princess Eugenie’s royal wedding on Oct. 12.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal expert, told Express that Ferguson and Prince Philip will simply hide their strained relationship for the sake of Princess Eugenie.

“Sarah remains estranged from the Duke of Edinburgh although this will obviously not show on Eugenie’s big day,” Fitzwilliams said.

But even though Prince Philip has not yet forgiven Ferguson, it seems that she has already patched things up with Queen Elizabeth II. According to Fitzwilliams, Ferguson has visited Her Majesty in Balmoral for the past three consecutive years.

“She has also been accepted back into the fold of the royal family. The Queen has a tenderness for her especially as she is so fond of her granddaughters, but the Duchess remains estranged from the Duke of Edinburgh,” he said.

Richard Eden, a journalist for Daily Mail, said last month that Prince Philip and Ferguson will also pose for photographs together at the royal wedding, and it will their first union in 26 years.

“Her Majesty and the Duke will be in the official photographs, just as they were in those of their other grandchildren, Peter and Zara Phillips, Prince William, and Prince Harry. The Duke loves his granddaughter and wants her big day to be just as special as those of her cousins,” a source said.

Princess Eugenie would also greatly appreciate her grandfather’s attendance on her wedding day because she is close to him. During a previous interview, the 28-year-old also called the Duke of Edinburgh incredible.

“I think Grandpa is incredible. He really is strong and consistent. He’s been there for all these years, and I think he’s the rock, you know, for all of us,” she said (via Town & Country).

Prince Philip is also close to his other grandchildren, particularly Prince William and Prince Harry. Following Princess Diana’s death, he was the one that convinced the Duke of Cambridge to walk behind his mom’s casket.
