KEY POINTS

  • Billie Eilish will host "Saturday Night Live" for the first time
  • Paul Rudd returns to "SNL" as host for the fifth time
  • Rapper Saweetie will appear as "SNL" musical guest on Dec. 18

Billie Eilish is set to mark her first hosting stint with "Saturday Night Live." She will host the show on Dec. 11, while Paul Rudd, dubbed "People's Sexiest Man Alive," will return as a host for the fifth time on Dec. 18.

Eilish will also appear as a musical guest on the NBC sketch comedy show the same day.

The 19-year-old "Happier Than Ever" singer took to Instagram on Thursday to announce the happy news. "AHHHHHH!!! I'M HOSTING AND PERFORMING ON SNL!!! CRAAAAZY I COULD SCREAM! @nbcsnl on December 11th!! see you then!!" she wrote.

This will be the star's second performance on the show. She previously defied gravity as she sang "Bad Guy" on SNL in 2019 with a rotating set. She also did an acoustic take on "I Love You" with her brother and frequent collaborator, Finneas. After her much-applauded performance, she took fans behind the scenes and explained how she pulled off the stunt with the help of the SNL crew.

This year is certainly a big one for Eilish. She won Record of the Year at the Grammys in March and released her second studio album, "Happier Than Ever," in the summer, which landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Eilish also debuted blonde hair this year, which was a perfect fit for her modern Marilyn Monroe-inspired ensemble at the recent Met Gala. She also became the youngest ever co-chair at the annual glamorous event.

Rudd will close SNL's calendar year as its host on Dec. 18 with singer Charli XCX coming as the musical performer.

He starred in "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," which will release in theaters Friday. He also appeared in "The Shrink Next Door" opposite Will Ferrell, Kathryn Hahn and Casey Wilson. The show is currently streaming on Apple TV+.

English pop star Charli XCX's fifth studio album, "Crash," is scheduled for release in March 2022.

Simu Liu, star of "Kim's Convenience" and Marvel Cinematic Universe's "Shang-Chi," will host "SNL" this Saturday. Rapper Saweetie will appear as a musical guest on the show, Variety reported.
