“Scandal” Season 6 just cast Jeff Perry’s daughter Zoe in a mystery role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zoe will be part of more than one episode starting next year. Zoe is the child of Perry with his ex-wife, Laurie Metcalf. The actress currently plays the role of Sheldon’s mom, Mary, in “The Big Bang Theory.”

This is not the first time that Zoe will be joining a Shonda Rhimes show under her production company, Shondaland. In the past, the actress made an appearance in “Grey’s Anatomy,” where she played the role of a patient. She also starred in “Private Practice.”

Meanwhile, Rhimes is known for tapping family members and relatives of her cast members to appear in some of her shows. Just recently, the executive producer introduced “Scandal” star Scott Foley’s wife Marika Dominczyk in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13. The actress currently plays the role of Arizona’s (Jessica Capshaw) newest love interest. “Scandal” star Katie Lowes also worked with her husband, Adam Shapiro, in the hit ABC series.

In other news, “Scandal” Season 6 will premiere early next year, and only a few details have been released as of late. Last week, ABC dropped a new poster for the show that contains some cryptic information. On the poster is lead star Kerry Washington, who plays the role of Olivia Pope. The tagline, “The balance of power is about to shift,” is written over her shoulder.

Season 5 ended with President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) preparing to leave the White House, while his estranged wife Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) is running for president. Jake Ballard was campaigning to be Mellie’s vice president. At first, Mellie and Jake thought that there was no doubt they would win. However, they later on found out that they were up against Governor Vargas (Ricardo Chavira) and Cryus Beene (Perry).

“Scandal” Season 6, episode 1 will air on ABC on Jan. 19 at 9 p.m. EST.
