Kerry Washington’s baby bump was on full display at the 2016 Emmy Awards! The pregnant “Scandal” actress joined her “Scandal” co-star Tony Goldwyn on stage at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night to present the awards for outstanding writing in a limited series or movie, and outstanding supporting actress in a limited series or movie.

“It’s hard to joke about writers, because next week your character may wind up with nothing to say,” Washington said in her monologue.

“Or in a season long coma,” Goldwyn chimed in.

“Or dead,” Washington added.

“And sometimes, writers have to deal creatively with an actor’s real life situation,” Goldwyn continued, pointing at Washington’s bump. You can watch the whole exchange below:

News broke is April that Washington, 39, and her husband Nnamdi Asomugha were expecting their second child. Washington showed off her growing bump on the red carpet at the United Way of Greater Los Angeles Women’s Summit on April 25.

“Scandal” is choosing not to write Washington’s pregnancy into the Season 6 storyline. The ABC drama is set to premiere midseason, and will hide her pregnancy using “big coats” and “big bags.” Washington recently joked about the filming struggle while on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
