The public perception of the Cleveland Browns has seen a massive change over the first five weeks of the 2019 NFL season. Once viewed as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, the team is an underdog for a second straight home game.

The Seattle Seahawks are laying 1.5 points at FirstEnergy Stadium in Week 6, according to the latest betting line at OddsShark. Cleveland had been close to a field-goal favorite over the visiting Seahawks, but the odds shifted when they were blown out by the San Francisco 49ers on “Monday Night Football.”

The Browns looked like a disaster in front of a national audience, losing 31-3 in a game that was long over when the fourth quarter began. The Seahawks, conversely, were great in their Week 5 primetime contest, defeating the Los Angeles Rams 30-29 on “Thursday Night Football.”

Seattle is the better team, but the gap between the Browns and Seahawks isn’t as wide as it appeared in Week 5.

Russell Wilson carried Seattle, yet again, in the team’s latest victory. The quarterback completed 17 of 23 pass attempts for 268 yards, four touchdowns and a 151.8 passer rating, making some of the best throws we’ve seen all year.

In need of a win to get back to .500, Cleveland should be better than they were in San Francisco. The 49ers were unstoppable on the ground with 275 yards on 40 carries. Baker Mayfield had a miserable 13.4 passer rating, completing only eight passes for 100 yards with two interceptions.

The Seahawks don’t have a great pass defense now that the Legion of Boom is gone, ranking 26th in yards allowed through the air. Their pass rush doesn't compare to the San Francisco defense that dominated Seattle in the trenches and sacked Mayfield four times. Twenty-two NFL teams have more than 10 sacks, and the Seahawks aren’t one of them.

The Browns scored 40 points in Week 4 against a Baltimore Ravens’ defense that has regressed significantly. Cleveland will move the ball against a Seattle defense that isn’t what it once was. Seattle ranks 21st in opponents’ yards per play.

Sunday’s over/under is 47.5.

Cleveland’s defense had been pretty solid prior to Week 5. The Browns still rank in the top half of the league in yards allowed per play, despite Monday’s debacle.

The Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers are a combined 1-9. Seattle beat both teams by a total of three points.

Don’t be surprised if the Seahawks finally get upset by a below .500 team in Week 6.
